About

I hold a graduate degree in visual art with photography as my medium. In addition to my ongoing conceptual work, since graduating I have focused my efforts on teaching. I spent the first half of 2010 in Bangkok as a teacher, photographer, and designer for an organization called NightLight. I have also worked as an art and music educator with an enrichment program in downtown Los Angeles for the past two years. Most recently, I taught photography at a summer program for teens overcoming substance abuse.

Mission statement:

I believe we are all called to alleviate the pain and suffering of others somehow in this life. Extended selfless actions are where the notions of community and full life are formed. I know in my heart that I must commit my life to using my full range of skills, from the specialized to the menial, to serve those who have been looked over or maligned by society. It is my passion to provide individuals with the conceptual and technical knowledge to make lasting and rewarding creative work.

About NightLight International:

NightLight is an organization working to help individuals who have been victimized by the prostitution, sex tourism, and human trafficking industries based in Bangkok, Thailand. Volunteers at NightLight build relationships with women working in the bars and brothels of the red light districts. NightLight is able to provide alternative employment, education, life skills training, scholarships, childcare, and counseling to these women.
